Maltid Palace in Budapest Hungary

Maltid Palace at Night

Matild Palace History

Her Imperial and Royal Highness Maria Klotild

It was built in 1902 during the Belle Epoque era as one of two buildings with a road separating the two. Together they were known as the Klotild Palaces. Her Imperial and Royal Highness Maria Klotild of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha commissioned two architects Kálmán Giergl and Flóris Korb to build them. Back in the day the Matlid Palace was the social home with the café, Belvarosi Kvehaz taking center stage for creative minds to gather together.  It became a true gathering place. Because of its rich history in 1977 it became a UNESCO World Heritage. It took a 5 year renovation to make it the 5 star hotel it is today.

Room Tour

Below is a video room tour of my room. Please turn the sound on.

The Swan Spa

Guests of the resorts receive complimentary access to the spa. Speaking from personal experience it is great place to unwind after a busy day of touring. When you enter the spa there is fresh fruit and flavored water waiting for you. I love the comfortable lounge area to put my feet up and just unwind. There is a steam room, salt room, and sauna for guests to enjoy.

Location

The location was perfect for my stay. It was walking distance to the Hungarian State Opera House, the beautiful Elizabeth Bridge, and the wonderful Danube River.

Food

For food you can eat at Spago by Wolfgang Puck at the resort and enjoying panoramic views from The Duchess rooftop bar. If you want to venture outside the hotel, there are plenty of restaurants nearby that you can walk to. There is a grocery store a little over a block away.

Concierge Team

The concierge team will take your luggage upon arrival and once your room is ready your luggage will be there ready for you. I loved that I was personally escorted to my room and was given a tour of the beautiful resort. They called a taxi for me to take me to the airport as well so it was one less thing I had to worry about.
